The Detroit Creative Technology Office(DCTO) was established in July 2007. Its mission is to promote, support and build Metro Detroit's Creative Technology  Community.

The office currently operates through the support of key Creative Technology organizations in Metro Detroit. The organizations are:

• Detroit Chapter of the International Game Developers Association(IGDA)
• SEMAFX (Southeast Michigan ACM SIGGRAPH chapter) 
• Creative Energy Alliance

 The DCTO's first few initiatives are to build a Michigan Creative Technology Directory and to hold a Creative Technology Summit in April 2008 timeframe.

 What is Creative Technology?

 Creative Technology is not an industry; It is sets of enabling technologies applicable to many traditional industries. The enabling technologies behind many of the solutions for Advertising, Entertainment, Scientific & Medical Research,  Digital Media, Consumer Electronics, Video Game and Internet industries are often creative technologies. As companies developing creative technologies or providing creative technology services to these sectors, these companies begin to be seen as Entertainment companies, Advertising companies, Digital Media companies and Visualization technology companies.  Here is the definition at Wikipedia .
